If something can go wrong, it usually does. They key is to stay positive and focused.
Last week was one of the toughest weeks of 2011. It seemed like everything that could go wrong did; server issues, shipment delays, a growing list of “to do’s.” Add exhaustion to the list and you have the perfect recipe for chaos.
Fortunately, I have a pretty good support system, a small group of family and friends, who I can vent with OR hum when I don’t have any words. In the middle of the craziness that was happening, I couldn’t help but think of how these unwelcomed hurdles could grow worse. Those thoughts were only momentary though.
My brother who is also and entrepreneur called during my “crisis building” session. After going over the list of things that were wrong, he reminded me of how important it is to to stay focused. Many times, things happen that are out of our control. That is the nature of life.
In those craxy moments, you have several choices, I will only discusss three.
- Freak Out! Run for the hills! Throw in the towel!
- Work on the tasks you have the power to accomplish.
- Eat and go to bed!
I hope option #2 seems the most appealing, it was for me. The next time the bottom falls out of your day, your week, your world, try to stay positive and focused. Asses the situation, find a resolution and just keep trucking. It works! Do you have a support system? What is your coping mechanism for chaotic situations.
Natural. Beautiful. You.
P.S. Look forward to a post on the power of hind site.
